This short Mara River Crossing Safari is tailored for you to experience a safari in the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. The Great Migration is typically present in the Masai Mara savannah plains between July and October, when you have a chance to see the huge herds, and possibility a river crossing if you are lucky.
The movement the herds is dependent on the weather and natural events, as the herds move solely in search of fresh pasture and water.
This Kenya safari can be booked on its own, or combined with one of Kenya’s safari destinations such as Amboseli National Park, or Laikipia. Also, it is possible to combine with a gorilla trekking in Rwanda or Uganda.

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and warmly welcomed by Mantis Africa Safaris, and transfer you to Wilson Airport on time for the flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve.

Arrive in the Masai Mara and meet with your safari guide, short road transfer to your camp – Governors’ IL Moran Camp where you will spend your 3 nights. During your stay, your meals, selected local beverages and two shared game drives per day. You can chat with your guide to set your days, usually the drives are early morning and later in the afternoon, times when it is best to view the local wildlife. Also, it is possible to go for the day with a packed breakfast. During the season of August – September, you will be in the right location to view the Great Migration on their annual journey that is typically in this area depending on the herds’ movement.
Masai Mara National Reserve also known as the Mara is situated in the southwest of Kenya, covering an area of 1,510 square kilometers, it is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife and endless plains. The Mara is home to an abundance of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion and cheetah, while leopards are frequently encountered, endangered black rhinos often hide in the dense thickets and large rafts of hippo and enormous crocodiles are found in the Mara River. Also, Masai Mara National Reserve is home to over 450 bird species including Ground Hornbills, Secretary Birds, Kori Bustards, Jaunty Crowned-Plovers and White Storks. Spectacular flocks of Crowned Cranes, Saddle-Billed Storks, groups of Yellow-Billed Storks and Sacred Ibis among others.

Today is your last day in the bush, enjoy a delicious breakfast at the camp before the transfer back to the airstrip for a return flight to Wilson Airport. Meet our guide and road transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in time for your onward flight.
