Day 1: Arrival in Uganda – Entebbe On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet our Mantis Africa Safaris Representative and be transferred to your hotel in Entebbe, a laid back modern and picturesque city , home to the country’s International Airport and sprawling across the banks of Africa’s largest lake – Lake Victoria. Spend the rest of the day at rest, recovering from the jetlag or go for a city tour visiting Entebbe Botanical Gardens and Wildlife Education Centre. Overnight at The Boma Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner Day 2: Fly to Kibale Forest – Explore the Crater Lake Region After breakfast, meet your guide and be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your domestic flight to Kibale Forest. On landing at Kasese Airstrip, meet your driver-guide and transfer to your safari lodge for check-in and short rest. Head out for a visit to the Bunyaruguru Crater Lake Region for a visit, this area is dominated by dozens of ancient craters teeming with glistering waters in the mystical landscape. Along this stretching, 52 lakes formed by violent volcanic eruptions and filled with rains await exploration. From serene swims and scenic canoes down vivid waterways to breathtaking safaris, this vast expanse offers an exquisite African experience. The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzee troop, expect to see other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys and several bird species. On locating the chimpanzee troop, spend an hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed, groom each other and pick fruits among others. Take as many beautiful visitors and photos as you wish to. Then retrace back to the starting point, meet your drver guide and return to your lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight stay. In the afternoon you will head to the Kasenyi plains – known for hosting large numbers of predators such as lions and wild dogs attracted to the area due to the presence of Uganda kobs. The area is a breeding area for Uganda kobs, other animals you will see during the game drive include herds of elephants and buffaloes, leopards, waterbucks and topis among others. As the sunsets, return to the lodge for an evening of rest around a campfire, dinner and overnight stay. The Kazinga channel is one of the impressive attractions in Queen Elizabeth National Park, this water way connects Lake George to Lake Edward and is home to a high concentration of hippos which you see as you cruise. Other animals you will see include crocodiles in the waters, herds of hippos and elephants on the shores and several water birds. The trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Spend one hour watching the family dynamics of these primates as they play, feed and groom each other. Later trek back to the starting point, meet your driver-guide and return to the lodge for an evening of rest. Alternatively you can take a walk around the lodge or visit a Batwa Community for a culture experience.
