Masai Mara 2026 Park Fees

Masai Mara National Reserve is the most famous safari destination in Kenya, and is one of the best places to see wildlife in Africa thanks to the expanse of grass plains which supports an impressive number of predators. The reserve is famous for its spectacular natural diversity of wildlife and is the premier Kenya safari location in East Africa, providing unparalleled opportunities to witness the Big 5 lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and buffalo, as well as the Great Wildebeest Migration among other wildlife species.

To access Masai Mara National Reserve for a safari, every tourist must obtain a Masai Mara Entry ticket which is charged on the status of the visitors as well as age (adult or child).

In this blog, we list and detail the Masai Mara 2025 – 2026 Park Fees.

Note: The Masai Mara Park fees have been revised by the Narok County Government to 100 USD per person from January – June and 200 USD per person from July to December valid for 12 hours.

Masai Mara Entrance Fees

Masai Mara Entrance Fees are categorized basing on the citizen status of the visitors, age as well as the period of your visit as below.

Important Information to note

Resident Rates – Applicable to residents of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. Visitors are required to present their National ID (for Kenyan citizens) or Passport displaying Work Permits or appropriate. Visas to prove resident status upon entrance into Masai Mara Reserve.

Visitors without a valid passport are required to pay the non-resident rates.

Child rates – Applicable to persons 3 to 11 years old. Person under 3 are free

Student Rates – Only applicable or persons aged up to 23 years old, sponsored by a recognized learning institution, and in possession of a valid student ID and visiting the reserve on a pre-arranged school organized trip for research authorized by ticketing office of the Masai Mara National Reserve in Narok. Students must obtain permission to use these special rates at least two weeks in advance of their visit.

How to Pay/ Mode of Payment

  • Payment in cash US Dollar or Kenya Shilling is accepted at the entry gates except if you are paying for entry to the western side of the reserve, namely Mara Triangle – Mara Conservancy area, where only cashless payment is accepted as an option to all the other gates include for Sekenani and Talek gates.
  • Citizens and Residents of Kenya are required to carry identification and proof of residence to avail the cheaper Resident Rates. Pre-Payment (obtain tickets in advance) is possible through the KAPS company located in the KATO office, Longonot Road, Upper Hill, Nairobi.

  • It is mandatory for campers at private campsites to hire two rangers for night-time security.

Rangers are transported to/from your campsite and food and accommodation for the ranger is not required.

Park Rules

To ensure that visitors enjoy a superior safari experience without endangering themselves or the wildlife of Masai Mara, there are rules and regulations in place

  • Please keep to the speed limits: 50km/hr on graded roads, 30km/hr all others
  • Always slow down for animals

  • Do not off-road in High Use and River Zones
  • Keep to graded roads and cut tracks in above zones
  • Off- road in Low Use Zone is allowed to view big cats
  • Always stay more than 25 meters away from animals
  • Please, no shouting, clapping or cheering
  • Do not sit not stand on vehicle’s roof at any time
  • No more than 5 safari vehicles at wildlife sightings
  • No alighting from vehicles at river crossing points
  • Do not cross Tanzanian border
  • Do not chase, follow or harass animals
  • No littering
  • Leave park or be in camp/lodge by 7:00 pm.

If you break any of the above rules, Mara Conservancy rangers have the legal right to

  • Impose an on-the-spot fine of Ksh 10,000
  • Have a vehicle and/ or people removed or banned from the reserve immediately

Note the following

  • Fine must be paid at the rangers office before departing from the Mara Triangle
  • Please ensure that you obtain a receipt for payment.
  • Failure to pay fines can result into banishment from the Mara Triangle for a period of six months, depending on the offence.
